Before dipping my toes into the world of IT through my blog and a platform I am currently building; I had no idea how unpredictable and rough the world of IT actually is. Especially plugins.
My husband is a web developer and I count myself very lucky to have someone understand everything I don’t. Especially today when I ran into an issue of picture rotation. Apparently, there is a thing called metadata (or Exif) that is stored on most pictures taken from a smart phone, and that data isn’t always read properly with every system. I think it’s a bit more complicated than that, but I didn’t really have the patience to understand more. I just wanted a solution. Talk about Millennial impatience.
So the outcome of this whole situation? Me, installing the Image Rotation Fixer plugin. It’s supposed to be a great plugin that has helped a lot of other people – except me. I don’t know what happened to my website but the entire upload process just stopped and my website went blank.
How ANNOYING. I refreshed. I closed the browser. I uploaded a picture on Instagram of some trees thinking maybe the plugin needed some time to adjust or something.
But, no, nothing. It’s still not working. And I just want to cry a little, close my laptop and walk away and never look back. Trying to understand why a plugin is not working feels like trying to calm a crying baby when it can’t speak to tell you what it needs. I keep shouting at the website (in my head, of course) and it’s just not responding.
So whatever. I’m going to bed now. Tomorrow is a new battle day.
Thanks, great article.
